see ya in October!

Hello Ladies!

A small group of us gathered at Tully’s in Port Orchard this past Sunday. We oogled beautiful shawls in progress. beaded shawl Sorry for the fuzzy photo, but there are beads attached to this shawl!

And of course we knitted and drank lots of coffee! tully's.jpg Hopefully, you’ll meet up with us in October if you missed us this month.

Remember: There will be no more meetings for the month of September (meaning, we won’t be meeting this upcoming weekend).

We will start with regular, every Sunday meetings in October.

Second Sundays: Silverdale @ Subway

First, Third, and Fourth Sundays: Port Orchard @ Tully’s

All meetings start at 12:30pm.

Meetings will also take place on Saturdays at the Steele City Cafe on 6th Street (in the gateway center where the Navy Federal Credit Union ATM is located in West Bremerton). There will also be an option to meet up on Saturdays up in Port Gamble to spin and knit with The Artful Ewe.

Lastly, if you haven’t already, check out Ravelry! There’s a Group too! C’mon and check us out or sign up for the wait-list…it’s worth it! :-D

Happy Knitting!

Meet up…today!

Hi Ladies!

Just a quick post to let you know that we’ll be meeting up today (Sunday, September 23rd) at Tully’s in Port Orchard at 12:30pm until?

Just to get you hyped up, here go a few photos from last week’s meet up.

Some really cute socks were knit, sock in progress looks like this knitter prefers two needles for the “in the round” method.

Yarn was untangled…tangles and knitting books Talk about a jumble of beautiful yarn!

In other knitting gathering news, starting in October (we’ll have next weekend off), we’ll start having knitting gatherings every Sunday in Port Orchard at Tully’s. Second Sundays will still be reserved for Subway in Silverdale, so mark your calendars. I – Anna – will be working more often and I’m going back to school for a few weeks to look into switching careers so the blog probably won’t be updated nearly as much.

Happy Knittin’ and hope to see ya today! :-D

Group meetings!

Hello Ladies!

Long time, no blog!

If you weren’t aware, the KYOG’s will be meeting again this upcoming Sunday, September 15th at 12:30pm at the Tully’s in Port Orchard. Please come on out and knit with us!

Also, a big congratulations is in order for our own Spring! She took 2nd Place and a $5 premium for her Lizard Ridge Afghan at the Puyallup Fair! Here’s a link to a picture she took while she was there. She also received an honorable mention for her clapotis, not to mention 3rd Place for her felted scarf. This is no small feat so congrats to Spring! :-D

Well, hope to see ya tomorrow!

Happy Knitting!

Meet up schedule updated!

Hello Kitsap Knitters!

I’ve got a few updates for you.

First off, the sidebar has been updated to reflect our September 2007 meet up schedule.

Secondly, we’re probably going to have to find some sort of neutral place to meet up outside of Silverdale. East or West Bremerton maybe? I, for one, love to meet up in Port Orchard, but it’d be nice to have another location a little closer for those of us living in Bremerton/Silverdale (which is the vast majority of members). I’m up for suggestions, but don’t be surprised if some changes are made for October! ;-)

Lastly, most of you have already seen this on my blog, but I wanted to update in case there were members wondering about my placement at the Evergreen State Fair out in Monroe.

I earned a 1st Place Ribbon and Creative Award Rosette for my Lizard Ridge Afghan, knit out of Noro Kureyon. lizard ridge afghan on display There weren’t any other handknit afghans in my category, so I couldn’t get a best in class or division, which was disappointing, but I love the pink rosette anyway! :-D

I also earned a 4th Place Ribbon and a #1 Country Fun Ribbon for my Holly McKnotty doll. holly's ribbons The Evergreen State Fair had a daisy theme and awarded extra ribbons to those that incorporated that into their entries.

Well, I believe that’s about it. Congrats to all of our knitters that entered items in the fair, bring ‘em to our September meeting so we can oooh and aahh (and get some more knitters on the fair bandwagon, LOL). :-D

See ya in September (and stay tuned for our own Spring and her entries at the Puyallup/Western Washington Fair)!!!

KYOGs’ at the Kitsap County Fair

Hi Ladies!!!

I decided to swing by the Kitsap County Fair when it opened this morning and happened to see quite a few KYOGs with ribbons next to their projects! :-D

In no particular order . . .

Here’s Kirsten’s Felted Bag with a 1st Place Ribbon on it!!! I remember seeing that! :-)

Our own Terri got best in class and a 1st place ribbon for her bleach splattered cotton sweater.

Spring got a best in class and 1st place ribbon for her Elizabeth Zimmermann baby surprise sweater that she finished up on World Wide Knit in Public Day of all days!

Sheila got a 1st place ribbon for the aran sweater that she knitted for her hubby.

Terri got another 1st place ribbon for one of her gorgeous shawls.

Spring got another 1st place ribbon for her shawl.

Last, but definitely not least, Terri got a best in division and class for another one of her shawls. Go Terri!

I’ve got to wait until tomorrow to see how well or not-so-well I did at the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe. I hope I’ll do at least half as well as my knitting buddies.

Happy Knitting and see you guys in September! :-)

Anna

Super Knitting!!!

Hey Ladies!

Long time, no picture blog. This afternoon, myself, Paula, and Tina sat down at the Subway in Silverdale, WA and knit away.

I couldn’t help but to take a photo of Paula’s ubber cute Superman knitting bag.

Tina showed off her completed sock.
Perfect idea to knit them out of DK/worsted weight yarn to make ‘em go quicker!

Tina had also started another pair of socks out of sock weight yarn. Pretty Trekking XXL yarn!

Paula knit on her GGH Aspen ‘never ending scarf.’ Love the color!!! It has a set of 3 cables which I believe is the Irish Hiking Scarf pattern, but I could be wrong. Gorgeous either way!

We talked about Tina’s recent wedding, marriage, friendship, the whole shabang. Oodles of fun, of course. Always lots of good topics to talk about.

I know there are various in-home and public meetings going on all over the place, so I’ll leave you ladies to it. Enjoy the rest of August, the verdict’s still out as to whether or not I’ll continue the blog since I’m half-way out of the loop of all the meetings going on in the county.

Happy Knitting!!!

Meet up Sunday!

Hey Everybody!

This is a quick post from me, Anna, while I’m up the street from the Evergreen State Fairgrounds waiting to enter in my Holly McKnotty and Lizard Ridge afghan for judging.

Sheila’s been marvelous enough to send out an email notice, but if you didn’t receive one, I wanted to send out a reminder that we will in fact be having a meeting on this Sunday, August 12th @ 2pm at the Subway in Silverdale.

Hope to see you there! I’m off to go get in line early to enter my items and get on back home. :-D

Happy Knitting and Good Luck to all of those entering in State Fairs!

Local Fair Info
Kitsap County Fair: Is accepting entries on Saturday and Sunday. I believe it’s from 10am to 6pm, but I might be wrong.
Evergreen State Fair: Is accepting entries today from 6-9pm and on Saturday from 9am to 4pm
The Puyallup Fair won’t be accepting entries until closer to the end of August.

Howdy!

Hello Fellow Knitters!

If you haven’t checked the calendar, or meet ups tab, we will in fact be having a meeting this upcoming Sunday, August 5that 12:30pm at the Tully’s in Port Orchard. Please pick up your needles and join us! I’ll be out of town for the weekend, but there should be plenty of knitters in attendance!!!

As for Stitch ‘n Pitch, it was a no go for me. From what I’ve heard, there was plenty of knitting in the cheap seats for the attendees!

Long story short, local Kitsap knitters had bunches of fun! Here’s a photo Spring took of Patty, Bethany, and Paula on the ferry ride back to Bremerton. Patty, Bethany, and Paula

Well, I think that about does it. We’ll be meeting again next Sunday, August 12 at Subway in Silverdale from 2-4pm. C’mon out and join us!

I’m off to go find yarn for the Tilted Duster I plan to make from the new Fall 2007 Interweave Knits! :-D

Happy Knitting!

See Ya at the Ball Game / Ravelry ?

Hello Ladies!

Hopefully, you’re packing up your knitting for the Stitch ‘n Pitch game tomorrow at Safeco Field in Seattle (Thursday, July 26th @ 7:05pm). Look for me in section 333, or better yet, walking amongst the local Seattle yarn shop vendors in attendance. I hope to see at least a few of your smiling faces up on the big screen! ;-)

Secondly, how many of you are beta testers for Ravelry? I’ve got about 227 people ahead of me as of this afternoon so I’m hoping to be “in” by the weekend. Let’s get a roll call of Ravelry usernames so that we know who’s who once we’re all finally a part of all the fun! :-D

See ya at the game! :-)

Anna

Whew!

That’s all that I know how to say after the heat wave we’ve had the past few days. Hopefully, everyone was able to stay in the (knitting) shade.

Anywho, before the major heat, four of us met up at the Subway in Silverdale this past Sunday for some eating, knitting, and coffee drinking. Myself, Anne, Bethany, and Spring came out and had a good old time together. I admitedly hogged a good chunk of the conversation by asking Spring & Bethany a bunch of questions about spinning.

We had bunches of fun and lots of knitting was done without the interruption of TV, the computer, or other nuances of home.

Before the knitting, food was consumed. Twins!!! I really liked this photo of the supersize cups. ;-)

I was busy knitting on my Rebecca Dolly. My Hips Don't Lie!!! The hips and waist were materializing before my eyes. I’m a hop, skip, and a jump away from shaping the shoulders in this picture. I’m using GGH Bali yarn for this project.

Next up, Anne working on the beginning of a baby sweater/cardigan. Anne Gorgeous color, isn’t it? ‘Round and ’round she goes to complete it!

Kitty Pi!!! Kitty Pi! Here’s a photo of Spring’s Kitty Pi bed in progress for her son’s new kitty, My. She’s using Big Kureyon to knit this ‘puppy’ up. ;-) Looks like it’ll be a nice “get away” for the kitten (i.e., something to snuggle up with other than her Lizard Ridge afghan). :-D Wonderful colors!

Bethany was working diligently on her first package/socks from the Rockin’ Sock Club. I decided not to make you dizzy with another blurry shot of that, LOL. They’re coming along nicely, despite the frogging that occurred while she was working on them at Subway. :-D

Other than that, we had a fairly quiet, uneventful meet up. That rounds out our meet ups for the month of July. Our next meet up won’t be until Sunday, August 5th at Tully’s in Port Orchard, the following weekend; Sunday, August 12th at Subway in Silverdale. Hope to see ya there!

In the meantime, don’t miss us at the Stitch ‘n Pitch game in Seattle on Thursday, July 26th. Be sure to look out for fellow KYOG’s while watching the Mariner’s play (who am I kidding? It’s all about the yarn shop browsing and cute themed t-shirts for me :-p )! :-D

Knit on! And beware of the thunderstorm (allegedly) approaching us! ;-)
